Give it up for Apurva Mody, Cecilia Hurtado, Dina Simon, Keemia Kasravi, Keerit Kohlia, Maria Hernandez who got out of bed on November 23 to help with making hygiene kits as our contribution to the Newport-Mesa-Irvine Interfaith Council’s “2013 Hearts & Hands Program.” A big thank you for Keerit who made all the arrangements and organized the assembly line. Also a big thank you to Keemia’s Zoroastrian Youth Group and their Youth Leader, Mandana Pishadadi, who donated a big box of individual hygiene products to add to the materials we purchased. And lastly a thank you to about six young LDS Elders who also helped out.
This was a very diverse interfaith assembly line and as a result of their efforts:
51 family size hygiene kits and 53 individual hygiene kits were given to Laura Siriani, Manager, of the Sunday Supper at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Tustin
57 family size hygiene kits were given to Margie Wakeham, Executive Director, of Family Forward in Irvine.
And that is not all. Once we were done with the kits everyone stayed on to complete over 30 bead bracelets for kids at an orphanage in Nigeria. Check out our photos tab for pics.
